At Holy Family Catholic School, we believe in building a strong foundation for your child's lifelong learning journey.
Our pre-kindergarten program focuses on developing essential skills, attitudes, and habits that will benefit your child both in school and throughout life. We encourage active parent participation in your child's education, as research shows that involved parents contribute to higher test scores and foster a solid educational future.

Program Philosophy
Our program offers high-quality, developmentally-appropriate, full-day pre-K classes for three- and four-year-old children. Holy Family Catholic School follows the guidelines set by the Louisiana Department of Education to ensure a nurturing and enriching learning environment.
Discipline and Language
We maintain a respectful atmosphere by strictly prohibiting any form of demeaning language or corporal punishment within our program. Time-outs are utilized when necessary, with each time-out duration determined by the child's age, lasting no longer than 1 minute per year of age.
Before and After School Programs
Before-school care is available for all students beginning at 7:15 a.m. On-site after-school care is available for Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 students from 3:00–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, at $10.00 per day, per child. A $25.00 late fee applies beginning at 5:01 p.m. Kindergarten through 8th grade families may register directly with off-campus community partners and provide transportation from HFCS.
Family Involvement
We highly value family involvement in your child's education. Parents are welcome to participate in classroom activities, field trips, and workshops. Regular parent-teacher conferences will be scheduled to discuss your child's progress and address any concerns.
Potty Training Policy
Per the HFCS Registration Guidelines, all incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten students must be fully potty trained prior to the first day of school. This applies to:
- Pre-Kindergarten I (Pre-K 3): students who are three (3) years of age on or before September 30 of the year the school year begins.
- Pre-Kindergarten II (Pre-K 4): students who are four (4) years of age on or before September 30 of the year the school year begins.
- Kindergarten: students who are five (5) years of age on or before September 30 of the year the school year begins.
"Fully potty trained" means the child can independently use the restroom, recognize the need to go, manage their own clothing, and wash their hands without assistance. Pull-ups and diapers are not permitted.
NSECD Program
Research on early brain development supports the need for high quality early childhood education programs to ensure optimal development of brain architecture, success in school, in life and in society. Schools participating in the Nonpublic Early Childhood Development (NSECD) Program must meet compliance with many national quality standards — including teachers certified in early childhood education, a developmentally appropriate curriculum, small class size (20 children maximum), an adult-to-child ratio of 1:10, and before- and after-school enrichment programs.
Mission
The mission of the nonpublic school early childhood development (N.S.E.C.D.) program is to collaborate and partner with compliant nonpublic schools and class "A" daycares in providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate preschool instruction and services to four-year-old children of TANF-eligible families.

All young children will have fundamental opportunities to reach their full potential.
Can My Child Participate?
The NSECD Program targets four-year-old children of families meeting TANF eligibility guidelines (i.e., earned income that is below 200% of the federal poverty level). All eligible children must be four years of age by September 30.
- The NSECD Program reimburses participating nonpublic schools throughout Louisiana for providing four-year-old children with pre-kindergarten classes, before- and after-school enrichment activities, and social services to support optimal development.
- Teachers must be early childhood certified by the Louisiana Department of Education.
- Classrooms must meet the child-to-adult ratio of 10 to 1 with no more than 20 children per certified classroom teacher.
- NSECD classrooms are fully integrated, having both children served through NSECD Program funds and children served through any other funding source, including private tuition payments, enrolled in the same classrooms.
